PUBLIC DISCUSSION – DICK STARK, CHAIRMAN OF THE <br />CULTURAL COUNCIL – DESIGNATION AS <br />QUASI-NONPROFIT AGENCY <br />(CLERK’S NOTE: DICK STARK SPOKE IN PLACE OF MARY JANE KELLY, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF <br />THE CULTURAL COUNCIL) <br /> <br /> <br />Dick Stark <br />, 340 Palmetto Pointe, read his presentation (copy on file) to the Board, <br />which explained the functions of the Cultural Council and the reasons the Cultural Council should <br />become a quasi-nonprofit agency. <br /> <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Vice Chairman Neuberger <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowden to grant the <br />Cultural Council quasi-nonprofit status. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wheeler was not in support of the motion for a variety of reasons. <br />Among his reasons were this year’s budget, the Cultural Council should be supported by the <br />people who have interest in that organization and not by the general taxpayer, and that the Cultural <br />Council was functioning prior to receiving funding by the County. <br /> <br />April 19, 2005 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
