<br />Discussion ensued and Ms. Rauth and Mr. Mora responded to questions of the <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />rdrdth <br />Debra Segal <br />, 407 SW 43 Avenue, who travels 43 and 27 Avenues daily had a <br />problem with all three options. <br />Joseph Paladin <br />, 6450 Tropical Way, supported the design put forth and thought it was <br />important to keep it within the 80’ row. He understood the 10’ easement would be redone after <br />Mr. Paladin <br />construction is completed. also commented that he anticipated this new road would <br />have a boulevard effect with lowered speed limits and other aesthetic features and it would not <br />resemble a highway. <br />Landscaping was discussed and Ms. Rauth advised that would be part of the workshop to <br />see what the people want. <br />County Administrator Baird understood this amendment was being done for public <br />safety reasons and to meet our LOS. <br />In response to Commissioner Lowther, Director Keating confirmed that this 4-laning <br />was planned to change the road from 3 lanes from Oslo Road. <br />Commissioner Bowden expressed her concern about maintenance of the landscaping and <br />the need for personnel to keep it up. She cautioned against making the same mistakes as those by <br />DOT on SR 60. She understood this amendment is necessary for safety reasons but a lot of work <br />needs to be done in the planning. <br />County Administrator Baird stated that staff is working toward underground utilities and <br />maintenance concerns. He also understood the Commissioners’ desires and concerns. <br />Chairman Neuberger brought up the costly maintenance on the 2' grassy strip and was <br />advised that it was needed for mailboxes and signage. <br />th <br />Mark Brackett, <br /> 1915 34 Avenue, commended the Commission and staff.
