Bridge 884049 The piles show evidence of marine borer infestations <br />and collision damage, most extensive on the upstream <br />or the west side of the structure. Several piles <br />have lost as much as 20% of their section. Schedule <br />pile repair to arrest borer infestation as soon as <br />possible. <br />FEB 01980 800K. 4 <br />Attachment C <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />BRIDGE NO. <br />MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Bridge 884006 <br />Exterior pile on the south side of bent No. 4 is <br />sheared through below the mud line. Pile is no longer <br />functional. Replace the pile at bent No. 4. <br />Bridge 884016 <br />Reinforcing steel exposed at the spalls on top and <br />bottom of deck. Evidence of mild corrosion of the <br />steel. Patch with the epoxy grout as soon as possible. <br />Bridge 884019 <br />Piles A and B in the abutment at the north end of the <br />bridge have decayed with a 20% loss of section. <br />Repair the decaying piles in this abutment. <br />Bridge 884031 <br />The exterior pile on the south side at bent No. 2 is <br />severely decayed and no longer structurally function- <br />al. Replace the pile. <br />Bridge 884043 <br />Numerous spalled areas along the joints have occured <br />with the reinforcing steel exposed on the top of the <br />deck. Pile D of bent No. 5 shows decay at the water <br />line and 30% loss of section. Remaining piles are , <br />beginning to decay in this bent.
