MR. MACKENZIE STATED THAT HE HAD NOT INTENDED TO DO IT <br />RIGHT NOW, BUT SOME TIME DOWN THE ROAD. IF AGRICULTURAL IS WHAT <br />IT TAKES, HOWEVER, TO PUT A KENNEL OUT THERE, THEN THAT IS WHAT HE <br />WANTS. <br />LAWRENCE BARKETT INFORMED THE BOARD THAT HE LIVES NEARBY <br />AND STATED HE WAS ASSURED THERE WAS NOT GOING TO BE A DOG KENNEL <br />OR AN ATTACK DOG TRAINING CENTER. IT NOW SEEMS THAT EVERYTHING MR. <br />MACKENZIE ASSURED HIM WAS NOT GOING TO OCCUR APPARENTLY IS GOING TO; <br />S0, HE WILL SPEAK IN OPPOSITION TO THE REQUESTED ZONING CHANGE. MR. <br />BARKETT NOTED THAT ALTHOUGH THE SURROUNDING PROPERTY IS ALL IN <br />AGRICULTURAL, HE BELIEVED THAT THERE ARE ABOUT 100 FAMILIES WHO <br />LIVE IN THE VICINITY. MR. BARKETT STATED THAT IF, IN FACT, THERE <br />IS GOING TO BE A CANINE ATTACK TRAINING CENTER, HE WOULD WORRY ABOUT <br />IT GREATLY. HE NOTED THAT WHEN JOEL KEEN SOLD THIS PROPERTY TO <br />MR. MACKENZIE WITH THE CONCRETE SLAB ON IT, THERE WAS TALK ABOUT <br />USING THE SLAB AS A TRAINING CENTER. THIS CANNOT BE DONE WITH THE <br />R-lE ZONING. MR. BARKETT FELT SUCH AN ENTERPRISE WOULD BE DETRIMENTAL <br />TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND POINTED OUT THAT THERE IS A SCHOOL BUS STOP <br />NEAR THIS PARCEL, HE FELT CHANGING ONE CORNER OF THE R-lE To A <br />WOULD BE SPOT ZONING, AND HE OPPOSED IT. <br />REED KNIGHT, .JR., PROPERTY OWNER IN THE AREA, DID NOT <br />FEEL THE MAP IS QUITE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE AREA AND NOTED THAT THE <br />R-lE BEING DISCUSSED IS THE TIP OF A COMPLETE SUBDIVISION. HE FELT <br />THAT THE AGRICULTURAL AREA IS BEING PRESSURED INTO R-1. MR. KNIGHT <br />CONTINUED THAT HE IS FAMILIAR WITH GREEN BELT LAWS AND NOTED THAT <br />THIS PROPERTY WAS PURCHASED FOR THREE TIMES MORE THAN ITS GREEN BELT <br />ASSESSMENT AND THEREBY HAS LOST THAT EXEMPTION EVEN IF MR. MACKENZIE <br />DOES PUT IN THE CITRUS TREES. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS INFORMED HIM THAT THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE. <br />MR. KNIGHT DID NOT BELIEVE THAT ANYONE CAN MAKE MONEY ON <br />CITRUS BY PAYING $6,000 AN ACRE FOR THE LAND. HE CONTINUED THAT <br />A PROPERTY OWNER OUT ON OSLO CAME BEFORE THE BOARD ABOUT SIX MONTHS <br />AGO ASKING FOR A REZONING TO AGRICULTURAL FOR HIS KENNEL, AND HE <br />•• <br />BOOK 43 PAGE 2� <br />
