J. Jr. j <br />Chenrman <br />•Aar. 30, 1980, <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS COMMENTED THAT THE NOTICE ADEQUATELY <br />DESCRIBES THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING AND PROVIDES FOR RATES <br />ON A GALLONAGE BASIS. HE ADDED THAT THE MATERIAL THE BOARD HAS <br />BEFORE THEM IS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT AS THE PUBLICATION APPEARS, BUT <br />HE BELIEVED THE PUBLIC HAS BEEN ADEQUATELY NOTICED FOR WHAT THE <br />PUBLIC HEARING IS CALLED. <br />THE BOARD AGREED TO CONTINUE. <br />GEORGE LINER, UTILITIES DIRECTOR, APPROACHED THE BOARD <br />AND EXPLAINED THAT THE ORDINANCE BEFORE THE BOARD -IS AN AMENDED <br />ORDINANCE BASED ON ONE THAT WAS PASSED FOR THE GIFFORD SYSTEM, AND <br />IT IS FOR COUNTY -WIDE COVERAGE AND THE ORDINANCE DOES ASK THAT,THE <br />RATES WILL BE STANDARDIZED FOR THE COUNTY.- HE CONTINUED THAT IN <br />DECEMBER THE BOARD DID VOTE BY RESOLUTION THAT IF NEEDED, RATES WOULD <br />BE INCREASED TO A HIGHER LEVEL AND THIS COMPROMISE WILL RAISE THE <br />MINIMUM BASE RATE TO $7.10 FOR THE FIRST 2,000 GALLONS AND $1.50 FOR <br />EACH ADDITIONAL 1,000 GALLONS. MR. LINER NOTED THAT THE SEWER <br />RATES ARE TO BE BASED ON SOME PROPORTION OF WATER CONSUMPTION. HE <br />ADDED THAT IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS, THE AVERAGE CUSTOMER USED 6,534 <br />GALLONS FOR AN AVERAGE BILL PER MONTH OF $8.53 IN THE SOUTH COUNTY <br />37 eoo 43 FACE 2 l <br />AP 2 31900 :� a <br />
