HER MOTHER, MRS. CLARKSON, AND HER HALF-BROTHER. THE DOCTOR STATED <br />THAT HE HAS SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THAT HE DID NOT REPRESENT THEM AND <br />THAT THE MOTHER AND HALF-BROTHER ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE REZONING, <br />AND IN FACT, OPPOSE IT AT THE PRESENT TIME. DR. AKIN REITERATED <br />THAT HE IS OPPOSED TO THE PROPOSED REZONING WHICH IS AGAINST THE <br />CURRENT LAND USE PLAN. HE FURTHER NOTED THAT IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT <br />TO DEVELOP BECAUSE OF ITS ODD SHAPE AND STATED THAT HE COULD ASSURE <br />THE BOARD THAT ORANGES AND GRAPEFRUIT ARE BEING HARVESTED FROM THE <br />GROVE ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN ILL MAINTAINED SINCE MR. WALKER DIED. <br />COMMISSIONER Loy INQUIRED ABOUT DR. AKIN'S VERO BEACH <br />ADDRESS AND ASKED IF SHE UNDERSTOOD CORRECTLY THAT HE WAS STATING THAT <br />THE PETITIONER S MOTHER AND BROTHER WERE NOT IN FAVOR OF THE REZONING. <br />DR. AKIN STATED THAT HIS ADDRESS IN VERO BEACH IS 2585 <br />WALKER AVENUE, AND HE DID SAY THAT THE MOTHER AND BROTHER WERE NOT <br />IN FAVOR OF THE REZONING. <br />COMMISSIONER LOY REQUESTED THAT THE RECORD SHOW THAT THAT <br />STATEMENT IS DR. AKIN'S OPINION, AND HE AGREED IT WAS HIS OPINION. <br />ED SCHLITT, REALTOR, CAME BEFORE THE BOARD REPRESENTING THE <br />GROUP OF INVESTORS, WHO HAVE A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE SUBJECT <br />PROPERTY FROM ELIONNE WALKER. THE GROUP CONSISTS OF FRANK SCHLITT, <br />KARL HEDIN, BOB MAXWELL AND DR. WOOFTER, ALL LOCAL BUSINESS PEOPLE, <br />MR. SCHLITT INFORMED THE BOARD THAT HE HAD TALKED WITH <br />LIBBY CLARKSON, MOTHER OF ELIONNE WALKER, WHO INDICATED SHE HAD NO <br />OBJECTION TO THE PROPOSED REZONING AND WOULD LIKE TO AID HER DAUGHTER. <br />HE CONTINUED THAT HE HAS MET WITH THE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND <br />HAS ASSURED THEM THAT IF THERE IS A GOOD AND LEGITIMATE REASON THIS <br />AREA SHOULD NOT BE DEVELOPED, HIS GROUP SIMPLY WOULD NOT ACQUIRE <br />4 <br />THE PROPERTY EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE GONE TO A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF <br />EXPENSE. HE CONTINUED THAT IF THERE ARE WAYS THEY CAN WORK WITH <br />THE ADJOINING PROPERTY OWNERS SO THAT THEY FEEL THE PROPOSED DEVELOP- <br />MENT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE AREA, THEY WILL DO S0. HE NOTED THAT <br />ANY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT WOULD BE ADJOINING A RESIDENTIAL AREA <br />AND THE HIGHER DENSITY WOULD BE BY A BORDER STRIP OF COMMERCIAL. <br />.N <br />BOpK4 PAR.�./$ <br />
