ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LOY, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />WODTKE, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY ACCEPTED THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE <br />PLANNING STAFF AND SELECTION COMMITTEE AS SET OUT IN MR. REVER'S <br />MEMO DATED .JUNE 4, 1980. <br />ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR NEIL NELSON INFORMED THE BOARD THAT <br />HE HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAYOR SUIT OF FELLSMERE IN REGARD TO <br />MAKING A TEMPORARY DECELERATION LANE ON S.R. 512 INTO A PERMANENT <br />ONE, AND HIS RECOMMENDATION ARE SET OUT IN THE FOLLOWING MEMO OF <br />MAY 30TH. <br />May 30, 1980 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Assistant County Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Request from Mayor, City of Fellsmere to Convert <br />Temporary De=acceleration Lane into a Permanent <br />De -acceleration Lane, S.R. 512 <br />ENCLOSURE: Mayor Suit's letter of May 22, 1980 <br />A temporary widening of the north side of S.R. 512 intersecting <br />Willow Street was installed by D.O.T. to assist in the flow <br />of traffic during the renovation of this road. <br />The Mayor of the City of Fellsmere Inas requested that this <br />widening be made permanent in order to create another de - <br />acceleration lane. This would assist the City in developing <br />a truck by-pass. <br />Thursday, May 29, 1980, Gene Hamilton, Road & Bridge Superin- <br />tendent and I met with Ray Prescott, Project Cordinator, Allison <br />Walker, Supervisor and Mr. J. E. Barrett, Resident Engineer of <br />D.O.T. concerning this request. The following facts were <br />established: <br />1. This is,a temporary structure not built to <br />specifications. <br />I <br />2. If converted, the storm sewer drainage inlet in <br />that location would have to be moved approximately <br />three feet requiring additional right of way. <br />3. Engineering adjustment for drainage would be <br />required. <br />4. A change order would be required with attendant <br />federal approval. <br />5. D.O.T. "Mr. J. E.
