COMMISSIONER LYONS WISHED TO BE SURE THAT ALL THE WINDOWS <br />ARE SOUND, AND MR. KONTOULAS FELT ON SOME WE WILL HAVE HAVE TO DECIDE <br />IF THE HARDWARE NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, ETC. HE STATED THAT HE WOULD <br />LIKE THE BOARD'S APPROVAL ON THE FIRST FIVE WINDOWS OR THEIR RECOM- <br />MENDATIONS ON ANY OTHERS. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LYONS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />WODTKE, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED CHANGING THE FIVE WOODEN <br />WINDOW UNITS IN THE COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE COMPLEX FOR FIVE ALUMINUM <br />WINDOW UNITS. <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATOR THOMAS REQUESTED THAT ANY <br />TIME THERE IS ANY CHANGE AFFECTING THE FUNDS THAT HE GET A COPY OF <br />HOW MUCH MONEY IS INVOLVED, AND THE BOARD AGREED THIS SHOULD BE DONE, <br />MR. KONTOULAS STATED THAT HE WOULD SEE THAT THE COORDINATOR <br />AND FINANCE OFFICER GOT COPIES OF ALL CHANGE ORDERS. <br />UNDER ATTORNEY'S MATTERS, ATTORNEY SOVIERO STATED THAT HE <br />WISHED -AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDI- <br />NANCE AMENDMENT IN REGARD TO ROOM SIZE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO <br />MOTELS IN PROXIMITY TO 1-95, HE BELIEVED THE EXISTING ORDINANCE RE- <br />QUIRES 300' PER ROOM, AND THIS PARTICULAR AMENDMENT WOULD REDUCE <br />THE SIZE TO 200'. THIS RELATES TO A REQUEST MADE BY MOTEL "6", INC. <br />CHAIRMAN SIEBERT ASKED IF THE ATTORNEY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS. <br />ATTORNEY SOVIERO COMMENTED THAT MOTEL "6" JUSTIFIED THIS <br />REQUEST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A STANDARD ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN FOR THEIR <br />MOTEL, AND, THEREFORE, IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE FOR THEM TO BUILD THESE <br />PARTICULAR MOTELS AND THE SAVINGS CAN BE PASSED'ON TO THE TRAVELER. <br />THEY ALSO FEEL THAT BECAUSE THESE MOTELS ARE SERVICING ONLY OVERNIGHT <br />TRAVELERS, THEY DO NOT REQUIRE A 300' ROOM. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY <br />ARE ASKING THE BOARD TO CHANGE THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO COMPLY WITH <br />THEIR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN. HE BELIEVED THE ONLY PEOPLE FOR THIS <br />CHANGE ARE THE ONES MAKING THE REQUEST AND FURTHER BELIEVED IF IT <br />WERE GRANTED, IT COULD CAUSE CHARGES OF DISCRIMINATION. IF THE PUBLIC <br />HEARING IS DENIED, HOWEVER, HE FELT MOTEL "6" WILL CLAIM THEY HAVE <br />NOT HAD ALL THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE REMEDIES. <br />31 <br />A wia <br />
