F_ <br />8 <br />AUG 131980 <br />Contract <br />State of Florida <br />BOOK <br />DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES <br />MEDICAL EXAMINERS' COMMISSION <br />And <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />44 pAcE221 <br />This Contract is entered between the State of Florida, Department <br />of Health and Rehabilitative Services, Medical Examiners' Commission, <br />represented by the officers executing this Contract and hereafter <br />styled by the "COMMISSION", and the Indian River Board of County <br />Commissioners, represented by the officer(s) executing this Contract <br />and hereafter styled the "COUNTY", to provide State supplemental funds <br />for county medical examiner services. <br />Any reference in this Contract to "Districts" shall mean Medical <br />Examiner Districts as established by the Medical Examiners' Commission. <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, the COMMISSION has been empowered to administer funds for <br />the continued improvement and upgrading of Medical Examiner Services <br />by Chapters 20.19 and 406, Florida Statutes, and, <br />WHEREAS, the COUNTY agrees to provide all services and facilities <br />as deemed necessary to carry out the intent of Chapter 406 F.S. <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual understanding and the <br />provisions, terms, and conditions hereafter set forth, the COMMISSION <br />and the COUNTY mutually agree to the following: <br />1. The COUNTY agrees to: <br />Improve the services delivery capability and the quality of <br />Medical Examiners' Service, <br />1.1 Coordinate with the District Medical Examiner in developing <br />a budget for essential services, salaries, equipment, <br />buildings, transportation, investigations, autopsies, <br />toxicology, laboratory services and administrative costs <br />related to the Medical Examiner Services Program. <br />1.2 In the event that an examination or autopsy is performed by <br />the District Medical Examiner or his Associate upon a body <br />when the death occurred outside of his District, the <br />governmental body requesting the examination or autopsy <br />shall pay the fee for such services. <br />1.3 When a body is transported to the District, transportation <br />costs, if any, shall be borne by the COUNTY in which the <br />death occurred. <br />1.4 Budget funds paid under this Contract for the sole purpose <br />of augmenting,.supporting, and improving the District Medical <br />Examiner Services Program of this District. <br />1.5 Budget these funds for improving fees for service, salaries, <br />equipment, buildings, transportation, investigations, autopsies, <br />,toxicology, laboratory services, and other expenses related <br />to Medical Examiner Services only. <br />1.6 Pay from the general funds or any other funds under the <br />control of the Board of County Commissioners except those <br />by terms of this Contract, for routine and ordinary fees, <br />salaries, and expenses of the District Medical Examiner. <br />1.7 Provide the COMMISSION a County Annual Expenditure Report <br />identifying total funds expended or encumbered for Medical <br />Examiner Services on forms provided by the COr11MISSION <br />(Exhibit A) specifying: <br />0 <br />
