INDIAN RIVER COUNTY'S REQUEST FOR <br />ABANDONMENT OF A PORTION OF 130TH STREET <br />(GIBSON STREET) AND AN UNNAMED RIGHT-OF-WAY IN <br />ROSELAND (LEGISLATIVE) <br />Planning Director Stan Boling presented description, conditions, and background <br />on the request by County staff to abandon a portion of 130th Street (Gibson Street) and an <br />unnamed right-of-way in Roseland. He then presented staff's recommendation that the Board of <br />County Commissioners abandon its rights to the subject rights-of-way and authorize the <br />Chairman to execute the abandonment resolution. <br />The Chairman opened the Public Hearing. <br />Bob Johnson, Coral Wind Subdivision, asked who currently owns the <br />conservation area, and Director Keating said it was the County. <br />Fred Mensing was opposed to the abandonment request. He was aware of the <br />County's contract with U.S. Fish and Wildlife, which has indicated that the County should <br />abandon the right-of-way, but gave reasons why the Board should not approve the request.
