Hegarty <br />Executive Director <br />JJH/j cj <br />M E M O R A N D U M <br />TO: Bp d of oun, y Commissioners <br />FROM: Edward J. �eg an <br />DATE: September 3, 1980 <br />SUBJECT: North Gifford Park <br />Some improvements have been implemented in North Gifford <br />Park, and we have also collected estimates of costs relative <br />to the various requests made to the Gifford Progressive Civic <br />League. <br />The Economic Opportunities Council has received a one- <br />time federal Summer Youth Grant for $6,000. They propose to <br />expend these funds on playground equipment for use in North <br />Gifford Park. A copy of a letter of intent from Joseph J. <br />Hegarty, their Executive Director, is attached. <br />The decision to proceed with the purchase of the play- <br />ground equipment rests with EOC. They have met with the Gif- <br />ford Progressive Civic League and the Gifford Chamber of Jay- <br />cees International. We have advised them to continue to seek <br />their input and to possibly include other service and church <br />groups from the area. <br />Should the EOC choose to proceed with purchasing the <br />v eq-4--e-n-, L ... ... e_�.. t-hLGL <br />1. The County provide temporary storage space at <br />the County garage; <br />2. The responsibility for the installation of the <br />equipment rests with EOC; <br />3. The County Park Department, along with the Plan- <br />ning Department, should be responsible for <br />approving the site plan; and <br />4.
