AGREEMENT - NORTH BEACH AREA <br />a, Commissioner Siebert discussed the proposed agreement with Indian <br />River Shores and Indian River County regarding fire equipment and <br />protection to the North Beach area. This agreement provides for <br />three year protection of the land lying north of the Town of Indian <br />River Shores on the beach island, with the exception.of the Town <br />of Orchid, to the North County Limits, to be provided without cost <br />by Indian River Shores. Additionally, Indian River Shores.is to <br />transfer a 1,000 gallon per minute pumper fire truck to the dis- <br />trict without cost. In return, the district is to provide the sum <br />of $12,000 per year for two years to the Town of Indian River <br />Shores which shall be used towards the purchase of a tank truck to <br />fight fires in the North Beach area. <br />6. BUDGET and MILLAGE <br />a. The advisory committee reviewed the budget and millage recommenda- <br />tion for the district for Fiscal Year 1981. It was recommended that <br />an additional line item entitled: "Payment to Indian River Shores" <br />be added to the Expenditure Budget in the amount of $12,000. Ad- <br />ditionally, the Contingency Account should be reduced by $12,000 <br />yielding a balance of $84,875. The total budget remaining the same. <br />It was recommended that the District Boarc? of Fire Commissioners <br />confirm a millage rate of 2.37591 mills as the assessment rate for <br />Ad Valorem Taxes for Calendar Year 1980. <br />7. DUTIES - FIRE DISTRICT ADVISORY C01,211ITTEE <br />a. A discussion was held regarding the duties of the advisory com- <br />mittee. The committee determined its function as primarily re- <br />commending policy to the District Board of Fire Commissioners. <br />The committee would not address administrative matters associated <br />with the general operation of the district. Only those contracts <br />and procurements that have an extremely large impact on the fund- <br />ing associated with the district would be brought to the advisory <br />committee for their approval prior to being presented to the Dis- <br />trict Board of Fire Commissioners. <br />It was agreed the city would make monthly financial statements <br />available to the members of the advisory committee showing the <br />progress of the district to date. <br />8. LOCATION OF FIRE STATIONS <br />a. The committee discussed, in general, the method under which the <br />location of new fire stations would be determined and the method <br />-3- <br />
