M M <br />Board of Fire Commissioners will have the sole responsibility for <br />hiring the Fire Chief for the district. <br />The committee recommended that the city have the sole responsibil- <br />ity for the investment of idle funds and to make the necessary <br />transfers of funds between investment groups as necessary to in- <br />sure the highest return from these invested funds. The city will <br />provide a periodic report as to the results of these transactions <br />to the District Board of Fire Commissioners. The City Manager <br />and the Finance Director shall be the persons authorized to sign <br />the necessary documents for the investment and withdrawal of these <br />investment funds belonging to the District Board of Fire Commis- <br />sioners. <br />The advisory committee unanimously recommends the hiring of Forrest <br />R. Smith as Fire Chief for the South Indian River County fire Dis- <br />trict. This, subject to the approval of the District Board of <br />Fire Commissioners. <br />3. RESOLUTIONS: LEASES and TRANSFERS OF PROPERTY <br />The advisory committee discussed the transfer of property that is exist- <br />ent within the City of Vero Beach Fire Department and recomrrlended. the <br />following actions: <br />a. The City Attorney will prepare leases for the real property used <br />for fire fighting purposes to be transferred to the South Indian <br />River County Fire District. <br />b. The personal property, such as rolling stock, will have the titles <br />transferred from the City of Vero Beach to the South Indian River <br />County Fire District. <br />c. The rolling stock and the lease interest in the city's fire station <br />located on the beach, held by the Volunteer Fire Fighters, will be <br />discussed by the volunteers and their attorney regarding the ulti- <br />mate disposition of this property. <br />4. INSURANCE <br />a. The advisory committee agreed, in concept, with the city's using <br />the name insured clause covering the South Indian River County <br />Fire District in its existing insurance policies. It further <br />directed the city and county attorneys to discuss and resolve the <br />method by which a "hold harmless" clause can be placed into ef- <br />fect covering both the City of Vero Beach and Indian River County, <br />from liabilities incurred by the South Indian River County Fire <br />District. <br />-2- <br />SEP 2 41980 Boa 44 PAUE 645 <br />
