PROCLAMATION <br />GUARDIAN AD LITEM MONTH IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the County of Iridian River prides itself on giving back to the community, <br />contributing to the quality of life among our citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, April has been designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month; and <br />WHEREAS, April 6 through April 12, 2014.has been designated as National Volunteer <br />Appreciation Week. <br />WHEREAS, the Guardian Ad Litem Program is a partnership of volunteers and staff <br />who advocate for the best interest of abused, abandoned and neglected children within our <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, there are approximately 200 children in Indian River County involved in the <br />court system through no fault of their own; and <br />WHEREAS, there are approximately 50 abused, abandoned or neglected children in <br />Indian River County currently waiting for a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem to be their voice. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board hereby recognizes <br />the month of April, 2014 as Guardian Ad Litern month in Indian River County and urge all <br />residents of Indian River County to give of their time to make a difference in the lives of our <br />most vulnerable children by volunteering with the Guardian Ad.
