1 <br />77 <br />TUESDAY , OCTOBER 7th 1930. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at <br />the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday, October 7th 1930, with the <br />following members of the Board present: Albert O.Helseth, Chairman; J.D.Yongue; J.W. <br />La.Bruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkins. Also present were Miles Farren, Clerk and <br />Clark S. Rice, Sheriff, <br />The Minuted of the previous meetings were read and approved. <br />'ff. B. Bhaffet appeared before the Board regarding the._condition of Joe Thompson, <br />colored, pauper, and requesting aid in transportation for him to Government hospital <br />at Lake City. It _was ordered that $15.00 be appropriated for transportation and $3.00 <br />for rations. <br />Mac. `Shaffer also ,brought to the attention of the Board the matter of drainage <br />ditch from .State Road #4 at Winter Beach, which affects some 22 residents there. It was <br />ordered that the amount of $100.00 be appropriated to clear out this ditch to properly <br />take the water off. <br />The County Nurse submitted application of Mrs Ida Yeargin to- be placed on the <br />Mother's Pension list. Action was deferred at this time on the application. <br />It wa,suordered that the County Engineer do emergency and 'temporary repair work on <br />the quay Bridge District Bridge. <br />Dan A Moran appeared before the Board regarding 'Drainage - on Lateral "A" on his land <br />And requesting drain pipe under the road to assist in taking care of the water at that <br />point. It was ordered the County Engineer confer with Mr. Moran and work this out if <br />possible. <br />It was ordered that the Sheriff use county convicts to place the jail grounds in <br />proper shape and condition. <br />The 'time having arrived for the opening of bids .for the erection of a store room <br />and garage ai the County Jail, proper notice having been duly published, as provided by <br />law, and proof of publication of such notice being on file. in the ClerkEs office, the <br />Clerk proceeded to open and read such bids. The bids so submitted being as follows: <br />J. E. Downes**** 01j600600 <br />Fred Amos..........$10762.40 <br />F. G. Pletcher.....$1,822.00 <br />The Board having considered each and every bid and having fully discussed the same, it <br />was ordered the Contract be awarded to J.E.Downes, sunject to sale of Time Warrants, <br />and subject to the contractor giving good and sufficient bond for the faithful per- <br />formance of such contract. The building to be completed within 45 days after notice to <br />start work. <br />The Notary Public bond of T.H.Sa.pp, in the sum of $500.00 with the American Surety <br />Company, a corporation, as surety was approved. <br />The Clerk was- instructed to write G.A.Braddock regarding ' bill of $587.20 due by <br />him to the County on account of work done for him at ;Sebastian. <br />The following Road Committee Report was received and read: <br />We # the undersigned Committee appointed by Honorable Body on the 2nd* day of <br />SEPTEMBER, 19301, with instructions to Griew and mark out the best route for a public <br />road, described in the petition as follows, to -wits <br />Commencing at the North-east corner of Section Thirty-six (36); Township thirty- <br />one (31) South; Range 'Thirty. -eight (38) East; Thence south on line Utween Ranges <br />Thirty-eight and Thirty-nine to the mast One-quarter corner of Section Twelve (12); Ii <br />l <br />
