13. <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY MATTERS <br />1:19 A. Economic Development Council Vacancy <br />p.m. (memorandum dated June 17, 2014) <br />County Attorney Dylan Reingold announced the vacancy of the Local <br />Manufacturing Industry representative on the Economic Development <br />Council. He thereafter presented for Board consideration, the name of the <br />single qualified applicant for the position, James Funk. <br />1:19 ON MOTION by Vice Chairman Davis, SECONDED by Commissioner <br />p.m. Zorc, and after reviewing the applicant's resume, the Board unanimously <br />approved the appointment of James Funk to fill the unexpired term for the <br />"Local Manufacturing Industry" representative to the Economic <br />Development Council. <br />14. <br />187 <br />COMMISSIONERS MATTERS PAGE <br />1:20 A. <br />p.m. <br />Commissioner Peter D. O'Brvan, Chairman <br />1. Intergovernmental Relations and Grants Coordinator Position <br />(memorandum dated June 17, 2014) 188- <br />191 <br />Chairman O'Bryan provided background and analysis on his request for <br />the Board to consider incorporating into the upcoming budget year, a <br />new job position for an "Intergovernmental Relations and Grants <br />Coordinator" to represent in Tallahassee, the various County interests. <br />He envisioned someone who would work year round on grants for <br />various projects that will be going forward. <br />Commissioner Solari explained why he would not support the creation of <br />a new position for a coordinator. <br />Discussion ensued among the Board, after which it was decided to task <br />the County Attorney's office with formulating a plan to address the <br />County's future lobbying efforts. <br />1:36 MOTION WAS MADE by Vice Chairman Davis, SECONDED by <br />p.m. Commissioner Zorc, to direct the Legal Department to research the <br />alternatives, develop a plan for future lobbying efforts with respect to <br />obtaining funding and positive legislative results at the State level, and <br />report back to the Board with recommendations prior to the July 16, <br />2014 Budget Workshop. <br />Board of County Commission Minutes <br />July 1, 2014 Page 11 <br />
