r <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE REPORTED THAT THERE ARE FOUR AREAS IN <br />WHICH HE HAS BEEN SERVING, AND HE WILL BE HAPPY TO ACCEDE TO WHAT- <br />EVER THE CHAIRMAN WISHES, THESE AREAS ARE AS FOLLOWS: <br />THE BEACH RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE <br />THE MARINE ISLAND ADVISORY COMMISSION <br />THE GIFFORD WATER & SEWER ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />LIAISON WITH THE CIVIL DEFENSE DEPARTMENT <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE DID NOT BELIEVE THESE ARE ORGANIZATIONAL APPOINT- <br />MENTS, BUT STATED THAT HE MENTIONED THEM IN CASE ANY OF THE OTHER <br />COMMISSIONERS WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SERVING IN ANY OF THESE AREAS. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK EXPRESSED INTEREST IN SERVING ON THE <br />GIFFORD WATER & SEWER ADVISORY COMMITTEE, AND CHAIRMAN LYONS AGREED <br />THAT COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK SHOULD TAKE OVER COMMISSIONER WODTKE'S <br />PLACE ON THIS COMMITTEE. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS REQUESTED THAT COMMISSIONER WODTKE CONTINUE <br />WITH THE OTHER THREE ACTIVITIES, AND COMMISSIONER WODTKE AGREED THAT <br />HE WOULD CONTINUE TO SERVE IN THOSE AREAS. <br />COMMISSIONER FLETCHER INQUIRED HOW THE RESULTS OF THE <br />ACTIVITIES OF THE VARIOUS COMMITTEES ARE PASSED ON TO THE BOARD <br />MEMBERS, AND IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT NOTES ARE TAKEN OR TAPES MADE <br />AND MINUTES TYPED, AND, IN ADDITION, THIS IS SUPPLEMENTED BY A <br />BRIEF REPORT AT COMMISSION MEETINGS, <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK STATED THAT, AS A NEW COMMISSIONER, <br />HE WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF THEY WERE GIVEN A LIST OF ALL THE VARIOUS <br />BOARDS AND COMMITTEES AND APPOINTMENTS SO THAT THEY CAN KEEP TRACK. <br />THE CHAIRMAN AGREED THIS SHOULD BE DONE. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK REQUESTED THAT THE PROCEDURE FOR <br />APPOINTMENT FOR BOTH THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION AND THE BOARD <br />OF ADJUSTMENT BE EXPLAINED. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE EXPLAINED THE BASIC PROCEDURE, NOTING <br />THAT IF THERE IS A VACANCY, IT IS THE POLICY THAT THE COMMISSIONER <br />IN THAT DISTRICT BRINGS BACK A PROPOSED NAME AND PRESENTS IT TO THE <br />BOARD WITH A RESUME.
