Administrator's Memo of 11-21-80 <br />Enclosure 1 identifies a safety hazard at 16th Street and <br />20th Avenue. Enclosure 2 was action the County took to alleviate <br />the condition. <br />The condition could be better improved if a walk bridge is <br />constructed at the south side of 16th spanning the canal. This <br />would provide a link up with the bike path in that area. The <br />cost of the bridge is estimated at $3,434.26. See Enclosure 3. <br />In addition to this bridge, a pedestrian sidewalk needs to <br />be constructed on the north side of 16th from 20th Avenue to the <br />bike path. The cost of this addition is esitmated to be <br />$3,150.00. See Enclosure 4. <br />It is recommended that: <br />1. A walk bridge be constructed spanning the canal on the <br />south side of 16th Street & 20th Avenue. <br />2. A sidewalk be constructed on the north and south side <br />of 16th Street. <br />3. $6,584.26 be allocated from <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER FLETCHER, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK, TO ACCEPT THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK FELT THIS IS A GOOD PROPOSAL, BUT <br />SUGGESTED WE TOUCH BASE WITH DR. BURNS AND THE CITY OF VERO BEACH <br />TO MAKE SURE THIS IS AGREEABLE TO THEM. <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON REPORTED THAT DR. BURNS WAS DELIGHTED <br />WITH THE RECOMMENDATION AND FELT IT WOULD BE A SOLUTION TO THE SITUA- <br />TION. HE NOTED THAT WE CANNOT AFFORD THE EXTENSIVE IMPROVEMENTS <br />PROPOSED BY THE CITY PLAN. <br />28 <br />
