required if approved by the environmental health department <br />(Indian River County Public Health Unit) upon issuance of a <br />well permit. Certain locational and water quality standards <br />are applied to all potable well applications. Distances from <br />adjacent waterbodies, wells, and septic tanks and <br />drainfields, as well as the size of the single family parcel <br />are factors that affect if and where a well may be allowed. <br />In most circumstances, parcels not near utilities services <br />are allowed to be developed with wells; however, the overall <br />size of the residence may be limited by environmental health <br />regulations if the residence is to be built on a parcel less <br />that 1/2 acre in size. <br />(a) Wells are accessory structures, and may not be placed in <br />any road right-of-way. <br />(3) Septic tanks and drainfields: On site septic tanks and <br />drainfields may be used where centralized sewer service is <br />not available or otherwise required if approved by the <br />environmental health department (Indian River County Public <br />Health Unit) upon issuance of a septic tank permit. Certain <br />locational as well as soil condition standards are applied to <br />all septic tank permits. Distances from adjacent <br />waterbodies, wells, and property boundaries, as well as the <br />size of the single family parcel affect if and where a septic <br />tank and drainfield may be allowed. In most circumstances, <br />parcels not near utilities services are allowed to be <br />developed with septic tanks; however, the overall size of the <br />residence may be limited by environmental health regulations <br />if the residence is to be built on a parcel less that 1/2 <br />acre in size. <br />(a) Septic tank and drainfield elevation requirements can <br />have a significant impact on the amount and type of fill <br />required for a parcel to be developed. Elevation and <br />fill requirements for septic tanks and drainfields are <br />determined by the environmental health department, and <br />can exceed the finished floor elevation requirements of <br />the flood protection regulations. <br />(b) No septic tank or drainfield shall be located in an <br />easement or within 5' of a perimeter property boundary. <br />Section 912.10 Construction: Building Permit Review, Approval, <br />Inspection <br />The building division reviews, approves, permits, and inspects <br />regulated construction activities. <br />(1) Construction activities for which application approvals <br />and/or permits are required include the following: <br />255 <br />
