connections shall be attached; except a temporary <br />electrical extension connected to the vehicle for <br />battery charging or to facilitate repair is <br />permitted. <br />8. Limitation on length of recreational vehicles; <br />variances. No vehicle so stored shall be in excess <br />of thirty-two (32) feet in length, provided that in <br />the event of undue hardship petitions for a <br />variance to this chapter as to the length <br />requirements maybe filed and heard by the Indian <br />River County board of adjustment; the board of <br />adjustment in its consideration of any such appeal, <br />may consider the size of the vehicle, the lot size <br />in question and the availability of adequate <br />safeguards to protect the neighborhood. <br />Section 912.18 Maintenance and Public Nuisance and Noise <br />The county has adopted regulations designed to prevent or clean- <br />up nuisances such as the accumulation of garbage, trash, and high <br />weeds on parcels located in developed residential areas. Also, <br />the county restricts certain noise -making activities in and near <br />residential areas. <br />(1) Nuisances. <br />(a) Weed clearance. The accumulation of weeds in excess of <br />18" (maximum height) is prohibited on any lot with a <br />commercial or residential structure, or on a vacant lot <br />abutting such a lot with said structure(s), within a <br />platted, recorded subdivision where the platted lots are <br />a minimum of 50% developed. Parcels having agricultural <br />zoning are exempt from this prohibition. <br />Further information on this prohibition, including <br />notice and enforcement and penalties, are contained <br />Chapter 973, Public Nuisance. <br />(b) Junk and debris. No person shall discard, place, <br />abandon, accumulate, or permit or cause to be discarded, <br />placed, abandoned or accumulated any garbage, trash, <br />junk, debris, wrecked or unserviceable vehicle or the <br />parts thereof on property in the unincorporated areas of <br />the county unless such vehicles or parts are stored in <br />an enclosed structure or at an authorized junk or auto <br />wrecking yard. <br />Further information on this prohibition including notice <br />and enforcement and penalties are contained in Chapter <br />973, Public Nuisance. <br />266 <br />
