Watercourse - Any natural or artificial channel, ditch, canal, <br />stream, river, creek, waterway or wetland through which water flows <br />in a definite direction, either continuously or intermittently, and <br />which has a definite channel, bed, banks or other discernible <br />boundary. <br />Watershed - A drainage area or drainage basin contributing to the <br />flow of water into a receiving body of water. <br />Weeds - Any accumulation of untended, dead or living grasslike <br />and/or herbaceous vegetation, generally found in association with <br />an unkept yard area, which become infested with vermin, constitute <br />a health hazard, or become a fire hazard under drought conditions. <br />For the purposes of this definition, weeds generally refers to <br />unkept sod grass, such as Bermuda, Centipede, Bahia, St. Augustine, <br />and Zoysia grass. Such definition shall not include trees or <br />shrubs, or understory vegetation which is in association with an <br />undeveloped wooded lot. The term "weeds" shall not be deemed to <br />include any vegetation protected under county land development <br />regulations. <br />Well - Any excavation that is drilled, cored, bored, washed, <br />driven, dug, jetted, or otherwise constructed when the intended use <br />of such excavation is to conduct groundwater from a source bed to <br />the surface, by pumping or natural flow, when groundwater from such <br />excavation is used or is to be used for public water supply well. <br />Wellfield, Public - An area where one or more public water supply <br />wells are located. <br />Wellfield, Regulated Area - that area within the Zone of Protection <br />surrounding each Public Water Supply Well. <br />Wellfield, Regulated Substances - Substances which are: <br />(1) known to have hazardous and toxic properties such as <br />those listed by the EPA in federal regulations set forth <br />in 40 CFR 302; or <br />(2) listed as a priority toxic pollutant by the EPA in <br />federal regulations in 40 CFR 122.21;or <br />(3) a toxic degradation product, which includes petroleum- <br />based products; or <br />(4) on the Restricted Use Pesticide List promulgated pursuant <br />to Chapter 487, Florida Statutes, set forth in Chapters <br />5E-2 and 5E-9, Florida Administrative Code. <br />Wellfield, Zone of Protection - That area within a radial distance <br />of on thousand (1000) feet of a public water supply well. <br />Wetland - Land transitional between terrestrial and aquatic systems <br />where the water table is usually at or near the surface or the land <br />is covered by shallow water. For purposes of this classification, <br />wetlands must have one or more of the following three attributes: <br />1. At least periodically, the land supports predominantly <br />hydrophytes; <br />2. The substrate is predominantly undrained hydric soil; and <br />85 <br />
