Wastewater Trunk Mains - Components of the collection system which <br />connect directly to and convey sewage to the interceptors through <br />a gravity system. <br />Water - All water on or beneath the surface of the ground including <br />natural or artificial watercourses, lakes, ponds or diffused <br />surface water and water standing, percolating or flowing beneath <br />the surface of the ground, as well as all coastal waters within <br />Indian River County. <br />Water or Sewer - Peak Hour Demand (PHD) - The average flow rate <br />during the peak hour recorded on the maximum demand day. It is <br />measured in gallons per minute (GPM). <br />Water Demand - Average Daily Demand (ADD) - The average water <br />demand for one day during a calendar year. It is equal to the total <br />volume of treated water pumped into the distribution system from <br />treatment plants during a calendar year, divided by 365 days. It <br />is expressed in terms of million gallons per day (MGD). <br />Water Demand - Fire Flow Demand - The required fire flow water <br />demand established for a specific building structure to be supplied <br />by a water distribution system based on the Insurance Service <br />Office (ISO) Fire Suppression Grading Schedule. The fire flow <br />demand is set for each specific building based on the type of <br />structure, floor area and occupancy. <br />Water Quality Adverse Impacts - Any modifications, alterations or <br />effects upon a feature or characteristic of water or floodprone <br />lands, including but not limited to the quality, quantity, <br />hydrodynamics, surface area living resources, aesthetics or <br />usefulness for human or natural uses of said water or floodprone <br />land, which are, or potentially may be, harmful or injurious to <br />human health, welfare, safety or property, or which unreasonably <br />interfere with the enjoyment of life or property, including outdoor <br />recreation. The term includes secondary and cumulative as well as <br />direct impacts. <br />Water System, Regional - A regional water system consisting of <br />regional water plants, storage and distribution networks located <br />and sized to handle the ultimate usage based on the water system <br />master plan. <br />Water Systems - Wells, treatment facilities, mains, pipes and <br />laterals for the passage of water for private and public use, <br />including public hydrants. <br />Water Table - The top of the zone of saturation. <br />Waterbody - Any natural or artificial pond, lake, reservoir or <br />similar area which ordinarily contains water and which has a <br />discernable shoreline. <br />84 <br />
