DEAN BRUCE, OWNER OF THE PROPERTY ON U.S. 1 NORTH OF <br />CEMETERY ROAD PREVIOUSLY UP FOR REZONING, SPOKE IN FAVOR OF HAVING <br />MINI -WAREHOUSES ALLOWED AS A SPECIAL EXCEPTION IN C -IA ZONING, NOTING <br />THAT THEY ARE ONE OF THE LEAST OFFENSIVE THINGS THAT COULD BE PUT IN <br />THIS ZONING. HE CONTINUED THAT HE FELT THIS WAY EVEN THOUGH HE IS <br />NOT NOW GOING TO BE INVOLVED IN BUILDING MINI -WAREHOUSES ON THIS <br />PROPERTY. MR. BRUCE EXPLAINED THAT THERE IS NO SEWER AND WATER IN <br />THE AREA WHERE.THIS PROPERTY IS LOCATED, WHICH HE FELT WOULD PROHIBIT <br />BUILDINGS, BARS, RESTAURANTS, MOTELS, ETC., BUT WOULD NOT POSE A <br />PROBLEM WITH MINI -WAREHOUSES. <br />COMMISSIONER FLETCHER COMMENTED THAT MR. BRUCE APPARENTLY <br />IS ASKING THE BOARD TO AMEND THE ORDINANCE TO MAKE THIS LAND MORE <br />SALEABLE AND HE DID NOT FEEL THE BOARD CAN CHANGE ZONING JUST FOR THIS <br />PURPOSE BECSE IF THEY DID, THEY WOULD HAVE A FLOOD OF APPLICANTS. <br />HE CONTINUED THAT HE WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH REZONING THE PROPERTY <br />IF MR. BRUCE ACTUALLY WERE GOING TO BUILD A MINI -WAREHOUSE. <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE CONCURRED THAT HE WOULD NOT VOTE FOR <br />ANY REZONING TO PUT MONEY IN SOMEONE IS POCKET ON A SPECULATIVE BASIS <br />AND HE ONLY CONSIDERED THIS REQUEST BEFORE SO THAT MR. BRUCE COULD <br />ACTUALLY CONSTRUCT MINI -WAREHOUSES. HE POINTED OUT THAT TODAY WE <br />ARE NOT DEALING WITH A SPECIFIC PIECE OF PROPERTY, BUT JUST CONSIDERING <br />WHETHER WE WISH TO ALLOW MINI -WAREHOUSES AS A SPECIAL EXCEPTION IN <br />C -IA ZONES ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTY. <br />THE GENERAL CONSENSUS OF THE BOARD WAS THAT THEY DID NOT <br />FAVOR AMENDING THE ORDINANCE TO ALLOW MINI -WAREHOUSES IN C -1A AS A <br />SPECIAL EXCEPTION, AND ATTORNEY COLLINS NOTED THAT NO ACTION WAS <br />REQUIRED SINCE THERE WOULD BE NO ORDINANCE CHANGE REQUIRING A PUBLIC <br />HEARING. <br />CHANGE ORDER N0. 17 - ADMINISTRATION BUILDING <br />CONSTRUCTION PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE HERCULES KONTOULAS <br />RECOMMENDED THAT CHANGE ORDER #17 - ADMINISTRATION BUILDING BE APPROVED. <br />45 <br />MAR 111981 <br />BOOK 46 PAGE 45 <br />
