SECTION 01445 <br />PIPELINE TESTING AND CLEANING <br />PART 1 —GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br />A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required and test and clean all new <br />pipelines installed under this Contract as specified herein, including chlorination of all <br />potable water lines, if applicable. <br />1.02 RELATED WORK <br />A. Reuse & Wastewater Force Main Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe & Fittings is included in <br />Section 02624. <br />B. Water, Reuse & Wastewater Force Mains High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Pipe is <br />included in Section 02627. <br />PART 2 — PRODUCTS <br />NOT APPLICABLE <br />PART 3 — EXECUTION <br />A. Furnish all necessary equipment and labor for cleaning, testing, and chlorinating (if <br />applicable) the pipelines. The procedures and methods shall be approved by the <br />Engineer. <br />B. Make any taps and furnish all necessary caps, plugs, etc, as required in conjunction with <br />testing pipelines. Furnish a test pump, gauges, and any other equipment required in <br />conjunction with carrying out the hydrostatic tests. <br />3.02 CLEANING PIPELINES <br />A. As pipe laying progresses and at the conclusion of the work thoroughly clean all new <br />pipelines by flushing with water or other means to remove all dirt, stones, pieces of wood <br />or other material which may have entered during the construction period. <br />3.03 TESTING PRESSURE PIPELINES <br />A. All pressure pipelines shall be pressure and leakage tested. Pipelines shall be subjected <br />to a hydrostatic pressure of 50 percent above the normal operating pressure and this <br />pressure maintained for at least 10 minutes. The leakage test shall be conducted at the <br />maximum operating pressure as determined by the Engineer, and this pressure shall be <br />maintained for at least two (2) hours. The test pump and water supply shall be arranged <br />to allow accurate measurement of the water required to maintain the test pressure. <br />Where applicable, hydrant branch gate valves shall remain open during this test.
