Comprehensive Plan Transportation Element <br />OBJECTIVE 7 ADEQUATE TRANSIT SERVICES <br />Through 2030, the county's transit system will continue to operate at or above the minimum <br />service level specified in policy 1.1. <br />POLICY 7.1: The county hereby adopts transit quality and level of service (TQLOS): <br />"B" for Service Coverage in Indian River County. <br />POLICY 7.2: The county will continue to maintain its fixed route transit system. <br />POLICY 7.3: The county hereby adopts the MPO's Transit Development Plan. <br />POLICY 7.4: The county will continue to apply for state and federal mass transit grant <br />funds and use those funds to provide transit service in the county. <br />POLICY 7.5: The county will on an annual basis coordinate with the MPO to assess <br />whether transit improvements should be included in the project priorities submitted to <br />FDOT for state and federal funding. <br />POLICY 7.6: The county will continue to provide funding for transit services. Currently, <br />that funding is provided to the Indian River County Senior Resource Association. <br />POLICY 7.7: Through the County's CTC, the County will ensure that transportation <br />disadvantaged trips are provided through the coordinated system, whereby all providers <br />and purchasers have contracts and fully allocated cost amounts. In so doing, the County <br />will ensure that the CTC: <br />Compiles information on routes, schedules, facilities and vehicles for each <br />provider; <br />Assesses this information and schedules trips to avoid duplication; and <br />° Regularly coordinates with providers to serve as a forum for discussing <br />paratransit service <br />OBJECTIVE 8 LAND USE/TRANSPORTATION <br />By 2030, all three geographic sub -areas of Indian River County will have a jobs -housing <br />balance between .8 and 1.2 <br />POLICY 8.1: The county will implement Future Land Use Element policies which <br />restrict urban sprawl, limit strip commercial development, promote infill, encourage TND <br />projects, promote public transportation, and encourage higher intensity uses in major <br />corridors. <br />Community Development Department Indian River County 133 <br />
