Comprehensive Plan Economic Development Element <br />development groups designated by the Board of County Commissioners, and the Workforce <br />Development Board of the Treasure Coast (DBA Workforce Solutions) shall continue to inform <br />existing and relocating businesses of training programs that are offered by Indian River State <br />College, local high schools, and other training providers. Representatives from these institutions <br />shall be invited to provide an annual report to the Economic Development Council summarizing <br />what type of training assistance was provided to local businesses. <br />Policy 1.5: As an employer, the county shall advertise job opportunities on the county website. <br />Policy 1.6: The county shall post request for proposals on DemandStar <br />(http://www.demandstar.com/) or similar websites. DemandStar is a website where governments list <br />requests for proposals, bids, and quotes for needed government services. <br />Policy 1.7: The county shall maintain its existing process of addressing complaints or concerns by <br />business owners. This involves designating the County Planning Director and the Director of <br />Economic Development of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce to act as facilitators. <br />Both the county and the Chamber of Commerce shall present a report of business complaints and <br />concerns as well as proposed solutions to the Indian River County Economic Development Council. <br />Policy 1.8: On an ongoing basis, the county, through the Indian River County Chamber of <br />Commerce and other economic development groups designated by the Board of County <br />Commissioners, shall emphasize Indian River County's advantages over other regions as part of <br />marketing efforts. This will include highlighting the County's low crime rate compared to areas like <br />South Florida. <br />Policy 1.9: By March of every year, the Economic Development Division of the Indian River <br />County Chamber of Commerce shall develop a marketing plan that specifies actions that will be <br />taken during the next fiscal year to market the county's economic development potential. The <br />marketing plan shall provide detailed budget information pertaining to any funds that the Chamber <br />of Commerce is requesting from the Board of County Commissioners for the upcoming fiscal year. <br />Before the marketing plan and request for funds is submitted to the Board, the plan shall be <br />presented to and approved by the Economic Development Council. <br />Polices: The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce and other economic development <br />groups designated by the Board of County Commissioners shall promote services provided by the <br />Vero Beach Municipal Airport, the Sebastian Municipal Airport, and the Melbourne International <br />Airport in their economic development and tourism marketing efforts. <br />Community Development Department Indian River County 44 <br />
