Comprehensive Plan Housing Element <br />POLICY 7.3: The county shall permit seasonal farmworker housing as an accessory on-site use in <br />agricultural areas. This housing shall be required to have on-site infrastructure, as required by <br />county land development regulations. <br />POLICY 7.4: The county shall provide an outreach program for farmworkers and shall target State <br />Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) funds to provide housing assistance for <br />farmworkers. <br />OBJECTIVE 8 HISTORIC HOUSING <br />By 2020, at least 200 of Indian River County's historic properties will be in excellent or good <br />condition. <br />POLICY 8.1: Technical assistance shall be provided by the County staff to individuals and <br />organizations having individual or collective interests in conserving historic or architecturally - <br />significant structures, neighborhoods, and areas. Assistance will, at a minimum, include preparation <br />of applications for the Historic Preservation Grants -In -Aid program administered by the Division of <br />Archives, History and Records Management Bureau of the Florida Department of State. <br />POLICY 8.2: The county shall maintain and implement its Historic and archeological resource <br />protection Ordinance (Ch. 933, LDRs). <br />OBJECTIVE 9 INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION <br />By 2012, Indian River County will have interlocal agreements with the municipalities within the <br />county to provide housing assistance to very low, low, and moderate income households. <br />POLICY 9.1: The county shall maintain its local housing assistance programs. As part of this <br />coordination process, the county will accept funds, land, in-kind services, or other types of payments <br />for housing assistance purposes from local municipalities which are unable to provide sites for low <br />cost housing within their jurisdictions. <br />POLICY 9.2: The county will inform the municipalities within the county of the existence of the <br />county's housing trust fund and of the opportunity for the municipalities to contribute to the fund in <br />order to meet their share of county housing needs. <br />POLICY 9.3: The county shall, as an economic solution to affordable housing, provide incentives as <br />listed in the Economic Development Element of the plan for job creation and shall coordinate with <br />the jobs and education partnership program council and Indian River State College for job training <br />for county residents. <br />55 <br />Community Development Department Indian River County <br />
