Comprehensive Plan Recreation and Open Space Element <br />POLICY 7.5: The county, through its land development regulations, shall continue to apply its <br />open space definitions and standards as reflected in this element. <br />POLICY 7.6: The county shall, through its land development regulations, continue to specify <br />minimum open space requirements by land use type. <br />POLICY 7.7: The county shall, through its land development regulations, continue to require the <br />recording of conservation easements for all environmentally sensitive areas from which density is <br />transferred, and other such areas that are to be maintained as open space. <br />OBJECTIVE 8: Intergovernmental Coordination <br />By 2011, the county will have agreements with municipalities for county -wide programs and for <br />special events that impact other jurisdictions. <br />POLICY 8.1: The county shall continue to coordinate with the St. Johns River Water Management <br />District through representation on the district's regional recreation advisory committee. <br />POLICY 8.2: To enhance recreation opportunities, the county shall coordinate with and support <br />state and federal agencies in their land acquisition programs by: <br />➢ Compiling information; <br />➢ Conducting site analyses; <br />➢ Contacting owners; and <br />➢ Providing staff assistance. <br />POLICY 8.3: By 2011, the county shall coordinate with the school board to exchange the county's <br />16th Street complex for an equal value regional park property within the unincorporated area of the <br />county. <br />POLICY 8A The county Recreation Department's staff shall meet with municipalities' staff as <br />needed for the provision of countywide programs and for special events. <br />Community Development Department Indian River County 51 <br />
