ADMINISTRATOR NELSON REVIEWED HIS MEMO OF JUNE 231 1981 <br />WITH THE BOARD, AS FOLLOWS: <br />TO: Honorable Members of the Board DATE: June 23, 1981 FILE: <br />of County Commissioners <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing for Hobart <br />Landing Franchise, Change <br />of Rates <br />FROM: Neil Nelson, County Adm. REFERENCES: <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On April 17, 1981, a package of information was submitted to Indian River <br />County for review with the intent of raising the water rates. The changes were, <br />requested as follows: <br />Water <br />First 3,000 gals. <br />All over 3,000 gals. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Present Rate <br />$4:00 per month <br />0.55 per 1,000 gals. <br />Proposed Rate <br />$6.00 per month <br />1.00 per 1,000 gals. <br />The package data was reviewed by staff with their general approval. The comment <br />-- — by the County Attorney Collins was submitted to Mr. Briggs and discussed with his <br />- attorney, Mr. Quinn.'We requested the safeguard to the County of the maintenance <br />and impact escrow funds as provided in all recently approved franchises or their <br />changes. <br />This hearing has been advertised for 1:30 PM on July 1, 1981 in the Press <br />Journal issues of June 19 and 20, 1981. <br />As inspection of the franchise water plant was made and the appearance and <br />condition of the system is good. We have requested future copies of the treatment <br />reports that are submitted monthly to DER. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />We recommend that the proposed franchise changes be approved by the Board of <br />County Commissioners. <br />UTILITIES DIRECTOR LINER STATED THERE WERE NO ADVERSE <br />COMMENTS ABOUT THE WATER PLANT FROM THE DER OR ANY AGENCY, THAT HE <br />WAS AWARE OF, REGARDING COMPLIANCES OR STANDARDS. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK REFERRED TO ITEM 2 1N THE PROPOSED <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING THE 10% SINKING FUND OF $8,000 AND WONDERED WHAT <br />THE NORMAL PERCENTAGE WAS FOR A SINKING FUND. <br />J U L 1 1981 pp <br />60b46 PACE <br />� 9Q J <br />
