<br />The data in tables 1.6 and 1.7 show the numerical and percentage breakdown of the County's
<br />population by age. In each 10 year census period, all age groups, except for the 20-34 year old age
<br />group, increased in size. Despite the fact that nearly all age groups increased in size, there are
<br />differences in age group growth which can be observed. The most notable difference relates to the
<br />oldest age group, 65+; this group nearly doubled in each period, resulting in a 99 fold increase
<br />between the year 1930 and the year 2000. By contrast, the two youngest groups combined (ages 19
<br />and under) increased by a factor of only 9.
