BLAYNE JENNINGS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE <br />PROPOSAL SUBMITTED BY THE CITY OF VERO BEACH WAS A BIT EXTRAVAGANT <br />FOR A BEGINNING, AND WHAT THEY ARE PLANNING TO DO IS GET TOGETHER <br />WITH THE COMMUNITY AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THE PROPOSAL COULD <br />POSSIBLY BE CUT IN HALF TO MAKE IT MORE COMPATIBLE; THEY ARE <br />JUST ASKING THE COMMISSION TO AUTHORIZE THIS MATTER FOR A PUBLIC <br />HEARING - THEY WANT TO START SLOW AND NOT BE OVERCOSTED. <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON INFORMED THE BOARD THAT HE HAD <br />DISCUSSED THIS -WITH CITY MANAGER JnHN LITTLE, WHO AGREED THE CITY'S <br />PROPOSAL COULD BE CUT DOWN CONSIDERABLY. <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD ASKED IF THIS PROPOSED DISTRICT COULD <br />BE SET UP WITH A MILLAGE CAP, AND THEY THEN COULD WORK UNDER THAT <br />CAP AND NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE MAXIMUM. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS NOTED THAT THE AREA WOULD NOT BE SCALED <br />DOWN, JUST THE NUMBER OF LIGHTS PROPOSED. HE CONTINUED THAT ATTORNEY <br />JENNINGS NOW IS TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $24,000 <br />YEARLY COST, WHICH HE BELIEVED COULD WORK OUT TO SOMETHING A LITTLE <br />OVER A MILL FOR THAT DISTRICT. HE ASKED IF THIS MIGHT CAUSE A <br />PROBLEM AS FAR AS ACCEPTANCE OF THE DISTRICT IS CONCERNED. <br />ATTORNEY JENNINGS DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WOULD, HE STATED <br />THAT HE WOULD WORK WITH THE PROPERTY APPRAISER AND COME UP WITH <br />SOME TENTATIVE FIGURES TO GIVE THE PEOPLE SOME IDEA OF THE COST. <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD QUESTIONED THE DESCRIPTION OF THE <br />DISTRICT, NOTING THAT n LINE EAST OF U. S. HIGHWAY 1 TO THE EAST" <br />WAS RATHER VAGUE. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS ASKED PROPERTY APPRAISER NOLTE ABOUT THE <br />LEGAL DESCRIPTION, AND MR. NOLTE READ THE FOLLOWING LIST OF <br />BUSINESSES WHICH WOULD BE INCORPORATED IN THE PROPOSED DISTRICT, <br />INCLUDING THOSE ON THE EAST OF U.S. HIGHWAY 1: <br />QUALITY FRUIT PACKERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br />FISHER BEVERAGES <br />STURGIS LUMBER <br />GOLDEN SKILLET <br />GAS MART <br />PSR. MILLER'S <br />RIVERFRONT GROVES <br />LEROY SMITH SONS <br />BLUE GOOSE <br />INDIAN RIVER PACKING FRUIT <br />HAFFIELD CITRUS <br />
