Building Ordinance continued <br />-9- <br />(d) Temporary services shall have a minimum of 10 feet <br />clearance, be of approved material and be properly braced and supported. <br />(e) Only threaded thick wall metal conduit will be <br />accepted when exposed to the weather and it must be galvanized, or its <br />equivalent. Electrical metallic tubing may be used from meter socket <br />to entrance switch, of not exposed to the weather. <br />(f) Meter rooms shall be provided in all buildings of <br />multiple occupancy (four or more occupancies) and shall have a minimum <br />requirements of: 4 to 8 meters --4' X 6' X 7' inside diameter and if <br />the electrical requirements and demand is larger, the meter room shall <br />be increased accordingly. This meter room shall be equipped with a <br />ventilated door, and approved lock which may be locked only with the <br />approval of the Electrical Inspector. The meter room shall be <br />accessible to all occupancies of the building at all times. The meter <br />shall be provided with adequate ventilation. The purposes of this room <br />shall be to house and main switch or main switches, disconnecting equip- <br />ment and its control devices, terminal equipment for telephone service <br />(in separate area from electrician's area) and all the electric meters <br />which serve the occupants throughout the entire building. The con- <br />struction of this room shall conform to the same type of material and <br />construction.as the main building, and there shall be no sto;-age of <br />any kind, gas meters, or water heaters permitted in this room. <br />(g) Service disconnecting switches must be located in <br />a convenient and readily accessible place inside the building when a <br />meter room is not available. The service disconnecting switch or <br />switches, and other disconnecting equipment located in enclosed or <br />semi -enclosed porches not exposed to the weather, shall be considered <br />as being located inside the building. <br />(h) Service disconnect shall be located at the nearest <br />point of service entry not to exceed 25 feet and shall not be installed <br />in bathrooms, bedrooms, closets or kitchen cabinets. <br />(i) All 220 volt circuits must be protected with car- <br />tridge fuses or double pole breakers. <br />(j) All main switches and sub -main switches shall be <br />plainly marked so that the division, sub -division, or separate occu- <br />pancies of the building which they control can be quickly and posi- <br />tively identified. The mark of identification shall be securely <br />affixed to the switch to prevent its loss or misplacement. <br />(k) All service grounds shall be equipped with ground <br />rods, not less than 8 feet in length. Water pipe systems will not <br />be allowed. <br />(1) The service and equipment ground must be taken <br />from the nearest possible point of the system service after the service <br />is attached to the building. This ground must start at the meter socket, <br />main switch or C. T. can. Point of attachment of ground clamps or <br />approved ground connectors shall be readily accessible, and shall not <br />be in attics, under floor or behind any equipment. <br />(m) All current transformer installations shall be color <br />coded as follows with minimum wire size of 412: 2 red, 2 black, 2 <br />yellow, and 1 white common, with number four (4) copper wire to an <br />approved ground. <br />Section 26.
