N Tiedown straps <br />All tie -down straps shall be 1 1/4" x .035- <br />j, galvanized (.30 or.. per sq, ft.) steel strap conforming <br />e <br />to federal spec. QQ-S-791F.Type Jr Class Dt Grade I (or <br />equivalent). <br />(c) Single -wide Mobile Homes <br />The first over -the -roof and frame tie point must <br />be within twenty-four (24) inches or.at first stud and <br />truss from each end. If the frame does not extend to back <br />end wall, then the tie shall. be installed within six (6) <br />inches of the end of the chassis. All other over -the -roof <br />and frame ties shall he as equally spaced as is feasible. <br />All frame ties shall be secured to the main steel beam that <br />rLs the length of the home. <br />(d) Double -wide Mobile Homes <br />Double-wides shall have frame ties installed within <br />twenty-four (24) inches of each end and at intervals as <br />described on preceding chart (outside main beams only). if <br />the frame does not extend to back end wall, then the tie <br />shall he installed within six (6) inches of the end of the chassis. <br />Section 5. Permitted exceptions. <br />(a) Mobile homes having a permanent type structure <br />adequate to provide structural rigidity and stability, meeting the <br />design loads for huriicane zones, as specified in the ANSI A119.1 <br />standards, of twenty-five (25) pounds horizontal and fifteen <br />(15) pounds uplift, or meets local building codes, and extending <br />a minimum of two-thirds (2/3) of the length of the mobile home to <br />which is attached, shall be deemed to have complied with tie - <br />down standards. <br />(b) Mobile hOm6S of a model year prio). to 1971 may be <br />exempt from over -the -roof ties, except for a minimum of one (1) <br />at each end of the mobile home.
