She reported <br />that we have given the owner the opportunity to bring it up to Code, <br />and it seems obvious that he has abandoned the structure. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Bird, seconded by Commissioner <br />Scurlock, to accept the recommendation of the County Administrator and <br />authorize the Attorney to prepare the legal documents necessary to <br />support removal of the subject structure. <br />Commissioner Fletcher asked if the neighbors have complained and <br />was informed that this matter has been handled through the normal <br />procedures; the electrical wires were removed in May of 1980, and the <br />Building Director assumed that this action was brought about by a <br />complaint. <br />Commissioner Fletcher still did not see the need to remove the <br />structure simply because it is offensive to the eye. <br />It was pointed out that this is an open structure, which is an <br />invitation to problems. Discussion ensued as to boarding up the <br />structure, and Mrs. Rymer felt that if this action were taken, vandals, <br />etc., simply would remove the boards, and they would have to be <br />replaced every month or so. <br />It was noted that the owner has had proper notification and the <br />Attorney will make sure that the owner is properly notified before any <br />physical action is taken. <br />The Chairman called for the question.
