has been deleted, and there has been an upgrading of the <br />engineer's position and an upgrading of a surveyor position. <br />The Board reviewed the item for "Other Professional <br />Services" and it was hoped that when the new personnel get <br />on line some of this expense for outside services can be <br />dropped back. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Fletcher to delete the <br />rodman. The Motion died for lack of a -second. <br />Commissioner Fletcher asked how many people are working <br />on vehicle maintenance now and how many are anticipated at <br />the end of the year. Mr. Hardin informed him there are 14 <br />now, and we want to add a diesel mechanic. <br />Commissioner Fletcher wished to know how many people <br />are in the County Planning Deparment now and how many <br />planned for. Mr. Hardin stated there are 8 at present and <br />they plan to add one more. Zoning has five people and are <br />asking for one more. Both of these are part year positions. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Fletcher that both <br />positions be deleted until such time as the fee structure is <br />set so we can afford them. The Motion died for lack of a <br />second. <br />Administrator Nelson reviewed the Road & Bridge <br />Department and commented that they have spent $35,000 this <br />year on culvert and lowered their request to $28,000; <br />bridge material and supplies have been reduced to $40,000 <br />which is less than was spent for this year; they are <br />projecting less for fuel than was spent this year; there was <br />an $150,000 reduction overall, and .the Administrator felt <br />this budget is down to the bare bones. <br />Discussion arose about an item for uniforms, and it was <br />felt this is a bad year to .start this practice. The <br />Administrator explained that they are trying to dress up <br />that crew to build a little pride and get a better work <br />force.
