NOV 4 681 <br />BOOK 48 PAGI <br />The proposed Agreement Modification No. 6 is intended to provide Engineering <br />Services for the following improvements to the South Beach System: <br />1) New Water distribution system <br />2) New Ground storage tank(s) <br />3) New Pumping station(s) <br />4) Subaqueous Waterline crossing <br />5) Connection of distribution system to the South County Nater System <br />Construction shall be in 2 phases as detailed in the Agreement. Phase I shall <br />include a ground storage tank, pumping stations, and transmission system. Com- <br />pensation to the Engineer shall not exceed $67,000. based upon a construction <br />cost of approximately $790,000. The Engineering fee is based on standard Engi- <br />neering fee curves. The Phase II construction will include a subaqueous cross: <br />of the Indian River and additional water transmission mains to connect with th, <br />existing system. The not to exceed engineering fee of $300,000. is based on a <br />3.2 million dollar cost estimate and is based on standard engineering fee curves. <br />The actual engineering fees shall be by direct labor times a 2.1 multiplier plus <br />reimbursibles. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND kk'UYSIS <br />The County staff has reviewed the agreement and has determined that the <br />engineering fees are in line with standard practice throughout the State of <br />Florida. <br />RECOMIENTDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the Board approve and execute Modification No. 6 to <br />Agreement for Engineering Serivices dated December 20, 1972. It is also recommend- <br />ed that the following funding be approved: <br />Phase I Engineering services to be funded through impact fees to be paid for <br />by the developers/owners. Impact fees will be paid for "up front" to cover <br />engineering. <br />Phase II improvements engineering fees to be funded from a Bond program which <br />is currently being prepared. This money will be acquired "up front" prior to <br />engineering fees being paid. <br />
