6. Kennel or Animal Boarding Place, Commercial. (Administrative Permit) <br />a. Districts Requiring Administrative Permit: Animal boarding place <br />or kennel and related uses shall be allowed in the A-1 district upon, <br />approval for an administrative permit as provided in Section 25.2 and <br />after meeting the requirements defined below. <br />b. Additional Information Requirements: <br />i. Plans for all kennels, barns, exercise yards, animal pens, <br />and related improvements shall be provided. <br />ii. A site plan showing the improvements listed in "(a)." above, <br />as well as structures on adjacent properties, and all other <br />requirements of Section 23. <br />iii. A statement by the applicant explaining the types of animals <br />to be treated and/or sheltered. <br />C. Criteria for Animal Boarding Place or Kennels: <br />i. No part of any facility in which animals are housed shall be <br />closer than one hundred fifty (150) feet to any property <br />line. <br />ii. The site shall be of adequate size to protect adjacent <br />properties from adverse effects of the kennel or related <br />facility. <br />iii. All animal boarding facilities shall be enclosed by a <br />security fence at least six (6) feet in height. <br />iv. The site shall not abut any residentially zoned property. <br />7. Kennels and Animal Boarding Places, Noncommercial. (Administrative <br />Permit <br />a. Districts Requiring Administrative Permit. Noncommercial kennels <br />and animal boarding places shall be allowed in the RFD, RS -1 and RS -3 <br />Districts upon receiving approval for an administrative permit as <br />provided in Section 25.2 and after meeting the requirements defined <br />below. <br />b. Additional Information Requirements: <br />i. The applicant shall submit a signed affidavit stating that <br />no remuneration or other valuable consideration is or will <br />be received for the raising, boarding, transfer, or sale of <br />the animals to be kept on the premises, or their <br />by-products. <br />ii. A statement from the applicant describing the number and <br />types of animals which will be kept on the premises, whether <br />such animals are subject to federal, state or local licens- <br />ing or registration requirements, and if so, whether such <br />licensing or registration has occurred, together with <br />license or registration numbers. <br />iii. A site plan, pursuant to the requirements of Section 23. <br />C. Criteria for Noncommercial Kennels and Animal Boarding Places: <br />i. A noncommercial kennel or animal boarding place shall be <br />considered any building or buildings, including a residence <br />or residential accessory structure, other structure, or land <br />used, designated, or arranged for the boarding, breeding, or <br />care of five (5) or more dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry or <br />other domestic animals belonging to the owner or occupant <br />thereof. This shall not be interpreted to include stables, <br />as used elsewhere in this ordinance. <br />-41- <br />
