C <br />ORDINANCE NO. 85-88 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE TEXT AND <br />MAP OF THE LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION ELEMENTS OF THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; PROVIDING FOR 1) ENLARGEMENT OF THE <br />COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL NODE LOCATED EAST OF U.S. #1 <br />BETWEEN NORTH GIFFORD ROAD AND SOUTH GIFFORD ROAD FROM <br />FIFTY (50) ACRES TO EIGHTY-FIVE (85) ACRES; 2) <br />REDUCTION OF THE COMMERCIAL NODE LOCATED ON THE EAST <br />SIPE OF U.S. #1 AT THE PROPOSED INTERSECTION OF STORM <br />GROVE ROAD FROM EIGHTY (80) ACRES TO TEN (10) ACRES; <br />3) CREATION OF A SIXTY-FIVE (65) ACRE TOURIST/COMMER- <br />CIAL NODE LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE INDIAN RIVER <br />AT ITS APPROXIMATE INTERSECTION WITH THE 49TH STREET <br />EXTENSION; AND 4) DELETION OF 49TH STREET BETWEEN <br />INDIAN RIVER BOULEVARD AND U.S. 1 FROM THE COUNTY'S <br />THOROUGHFARE PLAN; AND PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Florida Statute 163 requires that local governments <br />prepare and adopt Comprehensive Plans, and <br />WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners has adopted a <br />Comprehensive Plan pursuant to Florida Statutes, and <br />WHEREAS, Florida Statutes provide for the annendment of <br />Comprehensive Plans twice per calendar year, not including <br />amendments directly related to a proposed development of regional <br />impact which may be considered by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at the same time as the application for development <br />approval, and <br />WHEREAS, These proposed amendments were considered at the <br />same time as the proposed Grand Harbor Development of Regional <br />Impact, and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission, sitting as the <br />local planning agency, has held public hearings and made <br />recommendations concerning these amendments, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has held public <br />hearings at which parties in interest and citizens were allowed <br />to be heard, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined <br />that these amendments are consistent with the general spirit and <br />intent of the County's Comprehensive Plan, <br />
