Building Ordinance continued <br />-12- <br />(m) All electrical outlets used for -portable electrical <br />tools shall be provided with three wire polarized plugs, and all por- <br />table electric tool cables shall be of the three -conductor type, and <br />shall be grounded in accordance with the National Electrical Code. <br />(n) All electrical switches, panels, wiring and other <br />temporary electrical equipment shall be maintained in a safe and ser- <br />viceable condition by qualified electricians. Qualified electricians <br />shall be required to patrol installations when considered necessary <br />by the Electrical Inspector, for safety to life while in use by other <br />trades. All disconnect switched controlling temporary light and power, <br />except emergency lighting such as barricades and walkways shall, when <br />considered necessary by the Electrical Inspector for safety to life <br />and property, be locked in the "off" position where there is no <br />qualified electrician on the job. <br />(o) Separately metered conductors shall not be installed <br />in the same raceway, except in load gutter in meter room. <br />(p) In the wiring of cold -storage plants and rooms or <br />buildings of similar character, all wires used for light, heat or power <br />shall be installed in rigid galvanized or sherardized metal threaded <br />conduit, and galvanized metal outlet boxes, cut-out and distribution <br />cabinets and fittings installed. Conduits shall be installed in such <br />manner that they will drain to the outlets and cabinets conductors <br />installed in conduit must comply with the National Electrical Code <br />Standard for damp or wet locations. All conduits entering or leaving <br />refrigeration boxes must have an approved seal -off fitting. <br />(q) The minimum wire capacity for window display lighting <br />shall be not less than 100 watts per linear foot and shall not exceed six <br />outlets per circuit including the convenience receptacles and not more <br />than two receptacles with each lighting circuit. The minimum size wire <br />for these circuits shall be 20 amp. capacity. A minimum of two outlets <br />shall be required at least one above the one below. All fixed lighting <br />shall be equipped with switches. <br />(r) Permanently installed electrical space heaters ire <br />bathrooms shall be installed so that heaters will not be easily exposed <br />to combustible materials. But said heaters shall not be installed <br />behind doors, under or near towel racks, or near shower curtains or window <br />curtains. Each heater must be on a separate circuit with a minimum wire <br />size of No. 12 AVJG or larger. <br />(s) One branch -circuit for signs shall be provided <br />for each store frontage for each i nri i vi rbial occu a77ry. ga i rl nntl Pts to <br />terminate outside, on or near the front of the building. Sign outlets <br />and window lighting shall be controlled by wall switches. (It is <br />suggested that these switches be installed near panel, so that time <br />clock installation, if desired, will be conveniently located and less <br />unsightly.) <br />(t) Sufficient bathroom and toilet lighting must be <br />installed and must be controlled by wall switches only. <br />(u) For protection against rust or corrosion, all steel <br />or iron outlet boxes, junction boxes, cabinets, gutters, and similar <br />type equipment subject to rust or corrosion, shall be protected with <br />a zinc or cadmium coating by either the galvanizing or sherardizing <br />process. <br />(v) Wiring of slim line or end to end fixtures shall <br />be as follows: Asbestos 1,000 volt No. 14 wire or R[I No. 12 wire will <br />be accepted for circuit wiring of fixtures that are installed end to end, <br />to the extent of the supply of that circuit passing through fixture <br />
