Gifford <br />Road (CR Railroad Crossings - <br />Transfer from State to County <br />Jurisdiction <br />FROM: Neil A. Nelson, REFERENCES: Joseph M. Austin, Florida D.O.T., <br />County Administrator District IV Utility Engineer, to <br />Neil Nelson, County Admininstator <br />dated November 131 1981 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />In accordance with State Legislature Chapter 77-165, the Florida D.O.T. is <br />requesting the County to accept the transfer and maintenance responsibilities <br />of the following Railroad Crossings including Traffic Control Signals as a part <br />of the Secondary Road System transfer to the County: <br />1) Glendale Road (612 also known as 8th Street) at FEC Railroad <br />2) CR 630 (South Gifford Road) at FEC Railroad <br />3) CR 505 (Roseland Road) at FEC Railroad <br />To process the transfer, the following is necessary: <br />1) Execution of Florida D.O.T. Railroad Reimbursement Agreement - Grade <br />Crossing and Traffic Control Devices Transfer Agreement. <br />2) Adoption of a Resolution by the Board of County Commissioners sub- <br />stituting Indian River County for the State of Florida D.O.T. in the <br />original D.O.T. - Railroad Crossing Agreement and Signal Agreement <br />The County received the responsibility for these roads and the Railroad <br />Crossings on Oct. 1, 1978, (Agreement attached).,10i�en the Secondary System was <br />transferred to the County, however, the specific documents formally transferring <br />individual agreements were not executed at that time. <br />I <br />The County has also received the following correspondence from the Florida <br />East Coast Railway Company <br />1) A bill dated August 13, 1981 for the rebuilding of the Oslo Road Railroad <br />Crossing in the amount of $11,290.08. This bill was initially sent to the <br />D.O.T. and was foriaarded to the County upon DOT's request. The FEC initiated <br />this work wihtout notifying the County. Oslo Road was transferred to the <br />County by the DOT in 1978. <br />2) A letter from the FEC stating that the County is obligated to pay <br />$10,300. for the reconstruction of the SR 512 (Fellsmere Road ) crossing <br />which has not been formally accepted by the County. This acceptance is <br />pending resurfacing and widening improvements by the DOT. <br />3) A letter notifying the County that the Railway plans to improve the <br />Glendale Road crossing and grants the County the option of doing the <br />work in-house. Glendale Road was transferred in 1978 from the DOT <br />to the County. <br />- - A <br />
