Attorney Brandenburg stated that portions that are <br />currently under study for future use could be indicated <br />either in the verbal portion or on the map itself. <br />Commissioner Lyons suggested having a very wide lane <br />indicated as an area of study for a future north -south <br />route. <br />The Chairman called for the question on the Motion to <br />delete Indian River Boulevard and the proposed bridges from <br />the Thoroughfare Plan. It was voted on and carried 3 to 2 <br />with Commissioners Wodtke and Bird voting in opposition. <br />On Motion made by Commissioner Lyons, seconded by <br />Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously instructed that <br />the text of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive <br />Plan include the idea that the bridges and a north -south <br />corridor somewhere east of U.S.1 will be investigated in a <br />study. <br />Commissioner Fletcher informed the Board that at the <br />Transportation Planning Committee Meeting there also was a <br />Motion made recommending that Jungle Trail remain a scenic <br />trail and be kept in its natural state. <br />Chairman Scurlock noted that this specific issue is <br />going to come before this Commission at the next meeting, <br />and he would have a problem making a decision before we have <br />heard all the evidence and received all the input. <br />Some discussion ensued as to 16th Street and whether <br />the committee is considering the possibility of a pedestrian <br />bridge. Commissioner Fletcher stated that they are, and he <br />hoped to have a full report and presentation on this at the <br />Transportation Committee Meeting of the 9th. <br />WATER SEMINAR <br />Commissioner Lyons reported that there is going to be a <br />Water Seminar at Rollins College on Friday, January 22nd, <br />and he would like to attend. <br />JAN 201982 ��o P� <br />6 8 GF ���, <br />
