Request for <br />of the Indian River Sanitation <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County on <br />December 16, 1981, held a Public Hearing to consider the transfer <br />of the Indian River Sanitation Service Garbage Franchise to Waste <br />Manag=ent of Florida, Inc. Present and represent-inc, Waste <br />P•Ianazement of Florida eras Mr. Sam Harris of Harra_s Sanitation. The <br />Coun:y Commission was presented with the issue and 'heard from: members <br />of the public. Individuals in the public raised several issues to <br />which the representatives of the firm could not adequately respond. <br />The Co,_inty Commission postponed the matter until further information <br />could be gathered. The hearing is tentatively rescheduled for <br />Janulry 20, 1982. This matter will only be considered on that day <br />if sufficient bac'_1cground information as requested is supplied to the <br />County staff. <br />. The Board requests that the attendance of a representative of <br />Waste Management of Florida, Inc. , and Naste Management Inc. <br />proferably these individuals will be corporate operating officers <br />who are familiar with the day to day operations of the organizations . <br />In addition, the County requests the following information: <br />1. Please suT)p1% the County with an operations plan for <br />service including such items as locatio_i of Vain. office, <br />location and storage of equipment, type of management <br />proposed for the organization, the proposed methods o.f <br />co^plaint handling, a list of routes and 'hours of <br />operation. <br />2. Does the assignee propose any capital expenditures or <br />major expenditures for additional personnel, new equipment, <br />advertising ca Daigns, etc. upon acquisition of the <br />franchise? If yes, please explain. <br />3. The information suon_lied regarding law suits pending against <br />Ivaste Management of Florida, Inc. is insufficient. Please <br />supply case names and the nature of such claims by or <br />against Waste Management of Florida, Inc. <br />4. How will Waste Management of Florida, Inc. calculate its <br />capital base upon w• l ich the company will expect to <br />achieve a "reasonable rate of Lreturn". <br />L_ <br />S.
