8 Ff l5 <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained the Board would be <br />discussing the approval of a transfer, but the agreement <br />must be modified. <br />Commissioner Bird wondered if this would be an <br />attempt to become consistent with other franchises. <br />The Administrator interjected that the Rural <br />Sanitation agreement needed to be reworked. He noted that <br />there have been other franchises but only two are in force <br />today: Rural Sanitation and Indian River Sanitation. <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained that the County <br />would have the ability to modify certain aspects of the <br />proposed agreement. In the long run, the Attorney thought <br />that a licensing ordinance was the best route to follow. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired about the term that <br />they were anticipating. <br />The Attorney responded that was going to be <br />something that he and the Administrator would be working on <br />with the new transferee. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired if a shorter term would give <br />the County a little more flexibility. <br />The Attorney responded affirmatively. <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested that if this was <br />approved, the County should set the term to run concurrently <br />with the others, so they could be reviewed at the same.time. <br />Steve Bergerson, general counsel for Waste <br />Management, Inc., approached the Board and stated that they <br />had no problem giving whatever performance standards the <br />County wanted in the franchise. He was not sure what the <br />reaction would be to shortening of the term, but they would <br />be willing to discuss it with the Board. <br />Commissioner Wodtke inquired if Attorney Bergerson <br />concurred with everything that was written 'in W. Brand <br />Bobosky's letter dated January 13, 1982 to Attorney <br />30 <br />
