Further study is also needed to determine the extent <br />of other development. <br />Implications of the designated areas being delineated as Undeveloped Coastal <br />Barriers are as follows: <br />1) The statue does not prohibit development. <br />2) As long as a structure qualifies for Federal Flood Insurance as <br />of October 1, 1983, in the event of a flood, the owner may submit <br />one damage claim. After this the structure will no longer be <br />eligible for Federal Flood Insurance. <br />3) Individuals will be forced to either assume the risks involved or <br />secure flood insurance from other sources. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the County Commission schedule a public hearing for March 10, 1982, to <br />formally adopt a list of comments to be forwarded to the Interior Depart- <br />ment. This will allow time for further analysis by the staff and public <br />input in the process. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Wodtke, seconded by <br />Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously approved <br />scheduling of a public hearing for March 10, 1982 as <br />recommended. <br />D.
