He expressed great concern <br />about the seriousness of this situation and the lack of <br />interest shown in Washington. He continued that he had been <br />informed that a lot of this was done by satellite picture <br />with the result that Amelia Island north of Jacksonville, a <br />very high quality development which has retained a lot of <br />the natural vegetation, was shown as totally undeveloped. <br />Commissioner Wodtke agreed that we should have a strong <br />Resolution that will touch base on all the problems brought <br />out. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt we have to answer their <br />specific question on what is included according to their <br />definitions whether we like it or not, and then we fight <br />about the definitions. <br />Commissioner Fletcher believed there are two items that <br />have to -be addressed - the definitions and map correction. <br />He noted that the people have indicated correctly that the <br />federal government once again has demonstrated its ability <br />to be ineffectual at the local level. Commissioner Fletcher <br />asked if the Commission felt the hearing input reflected a <br />desire for the government to remain in the insurance <br />business. He noted that particular issue could be skirted <br />or it could be addressed if the Commission has the courage <br />to do so. <br />Question arose as to what the Department of Interior is <br />trying to accomplish by this action, and it was theorized <br />that since funds are short now for them to purchase and <br />preserve property under the "Save Our Coast" program, this <br />
