Commissioner Bird stated that he would not vote for <br />such an amendment because D is worded much too broadly in <br />stating that it will be returned to the original condition. <br />He noted that the ceiling has been painted, the air <br />conditioning changed, etc. <br />Considerable discussion continued on the various <br />elements involved. <br />The Chairman called for the question on the Motion as <br />originally worded to approve A and B and obtain a <br />recommendation from the medical team as to the type of floor <br />covering to be installed. <br />Commissioners Wodtke, Bird and Lyons voted in favor; <br />Commissioner Fletcher and Chairman Scurlock voted in <br />bpposi"tion. The Motibh carried 3 to 2. <br />PROPOSED GIFFORD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />Chairman Scurlock reported that the Gifford community <br />has formed a non-profit Community Development Corporation <br />so they can receive grant money from the State. They have <br />received a resume from John Silvera, a consultant, and the <br />Board of Directors have come up with an agreement for him to <br />render services' to help the Community Development <br />Corporation with fund raising. Mr. Silvera has indicated <br />that he�would not want to accept a position if the County <br />Commission is not receptive to working with this group. <br />Dorothea McGriff, President of the Gifford Community <br />Development Corporation, has, therefore, requested a letter <br />from the Commission indicating their feeling in this regard. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Lyons, seconded by <br />Commissioner Bird, that the Chairman be authorized to sign a <br />letter indicating that this Commission has no objection to <br />the Gifford community forming a Community Development <br />Corporation and that the Commission wishes them the greatest <br />success. <br />MAR 171992 120 <br />
