MAR 17.1982 . 606 . ; 49 PAkm <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested having a workshop with <br />the School Board to discuss the 16th Street traffic and <br />pedestrian improvement plan, as he was not ready to give his <br />.final approval. <br />Commissioner Lyons commented that the School Board had <br />representation in the Transportation Planning Committee. <br />Discussion ensued regarding School Board <br />representation, and it was felt the School Board must make <br />every attempt to take care of their internal traffic <br />problems. <br />Commissioner Bird commented that he was confused about <br />the area to the north of the softball field and wondered if <br />that was included in the $2.9 million estimate. He then <br />referred to the agreement11the County, the City, and the <br />School Board have regarding the funding of the Recreation <br />Complex, and felt possibly this could all be done at the <br />same time the improvements are made on 16th Street. <br />Lengthy discussion followed regarding the right-of-way <br />and the traffic situation. <br />Commissioner Fletcher advised that 16th Street will <br />have 4 additional red lights in the future. <br />- Commissioner_Wodtke inquired if there was enough money <br />in the fund for right-of-way acquisition. <br />Engineer Davis talked about the relocation of <br />utilities; these were not figured in the cost allocation. <br />Costs that are not included are utility relocation, <br />improvements to the 17th Street/U.S. #1 intersection that <br />the DOT has designed, and the overhead pedestrian bridge. <br />He then advised they found out from the DOT that the cost <br />for the overhead bridge would be $400,000, and they were <br />recommending that this not be included in the project. . <br />Commissioner Bird talked about bike paths in the area t <br />from 20th Avenue to 29th Avenue on the north side of the <br />0 <br />
