On Motion by Commissioner Fletcher, seconded by <br />Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously authorized staff <br />to advertise a public hearing for April 21, 1982, and <br />granted a 60 day extension of the transition period to <br />May 18, 1982. <br />PROPOSED COUNTY PARKS ORDINANCE <br />The Board reviewed Commissioner Bird's memo: <br />TO: Board of County <br />Commissioners <br />DATE: February 24, 1932 FILE: <br />SUBJECT: Park & Recreation Committee <br />recommended proposed County <br />Park Ordinance <br />FROM: Dick Bird, Chairman REFERENCES: <br />Park & Recreation Committee <br />The Park and Recreation Committee is recommending that the County <br />adopt their proposed Ordinance. It has come to our attention that <br />we are very lacking in Rules and Regulations governing conduct and <br />usage of our park facilities. A sub -committee consisting of <br />Al MacA.dam, Bill Cook and Charlie Park spent a great deal of time <br />reviewing existing Ordinances and developing the proposed Ordinance. <br />We are hoping.that this Ordinance wi-11 be -adopted by -Indian River <br />County, and subsequent)y adopted by all the municipalities within <br />the County as standardized Rules and Regulations in local parks <br />regardless of their locations. <br />After review, and any changes.proposed by the members of the <br />Commission, I would suggest the proposed Ordinance be submitted <br />to the County Attorney for his final perusal and approval. At <br />that time, it should be brought back to the Commission for final <br />approval. <br />I am also sending a copy of the proposed Ordinance to Sheriff Dobeck <br />for any.comments he might make, since he will have the ultimate <br />responsibility of enforecement of the rules and regulations. <br />Commissioner -Bird reported that the proposed ordinance <br />was put together after a study was made of the present <br />ordinances in existence in various municipalities and in <br />surrounding counties. He further noted that the Sheriff has <br />read the proposed Ordinance and found no problems relating <br />to enforcing it. Commissioner Bird continued that they were <br />MAR 171982 82 NOK '49.
