It was voted on <br />and carried 4 to 1 with Commissioner Fletcher voting in <br />opposition. <br />Commissioner Wodtke requested Mrs. Jackson to keep on <br />trying to find a local sponsor in the interim, and she <br />assured him she would continue her efforts. <br />DISCUSSION COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM <br />Commissioner Lyons reviewed his memo, as follows: <br />TO: Board of County DATE: April 1, 1982 FILE: <br />Commissioner <br />FROM: Pat#idki, LvoY(s <br />SUBJECT: County Library System <br />REFERENCES: <br />After further consideration of the County Library System, it <br />seems imperative that we have a County Library Board. We need to <br />give representation to all parts of the: County and we need some- <br />body to recommend how the funds are to be split between various <br />libraries in the system and to settle disputes. <br />It is my recommendation that the County Library Board be <br />appointed in the following manner. One member by each <br />Commissioner from a resident in his district; and one member from <br />each of the branch libraries. The County Librarian would be an <br />ex officio member. <br />Commissioner Lyons reported on his meeting with the <br />group in Sebastian which is trying to put together a library <br />for the North County, a project he is very much in favor of. <br />Commissioner Lyons reviewed the history of the library <br />situation, the studies done by consultants, the recommenda- <br />tion that in the long run the Library be taken over by the <br />County, that there be more professionalism, etc. Now that <br />APR 7 1982 <br />p <br />
