MAYY 26 <br />1982 .AM <br />� <br />Brief discussion <br />followed about the 6" <br />Cutter <br />Set <br />requested to be purchased. <br />Michael Orr, Traffic Engineer, reported that the 6" <br />letters are needed to make warning signs to be in <br />6 <br />conformance with federal sign standards. The County <br />currently has the 2" and 4" sizes that are used for making <br />street name signs, but these are not adequate for making <br />advanced warning signs. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Fletcher, seconded by <br />Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously approved the <br />R <br />recommendation to purchase replacement vehicles and traffic <br />equipment as indicated in the memorandum dated May 10, 1982 <br />from Public works Director Davis. <br />DISCUSSION REGARDING ETHANOL FUELS <br />Assistant County Administrator Greene reviewed his <br />memorandum dated May 11, 1982, and a letter from the City <br />Manager of St. Petersburg, as follows: <br />TO: The Honorable Members of DATE: May 11, 1982 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />SUBJECT: Consortium <br />Re: Ethanol Fuels. <br />FROM: REFERENCES: <br />REFERENCES: <br />David L. Greene <br />Assistant County Administrator <br />Attached please find copy of correspondence from City of St. <br />Petersburg. As is indicated in the correspondence, the City <br />of St. Petersburg and Orange County are in the process of <br />inviting Cities and Counties.through out the State to partici- <br />pate in a consortium of local governments to explore the production. <br />and use of ethanol fuels. The intent is to establish an alterna- <br />tive.fuel which will meet future needs of -local governments at a <br />reasonable cost. _ <br />The group is asking each participating local government to contrib- <br />ute $5000.00 towards the support of this program. The initial <br />$5,000.00 would be necessary in order to commence the investigation <br />required and to ascertain steps and actions to be taken in order to <br />determine the viability of the concept. <br />
